Parking at Penn

Parking in the Penn campus area is very tight. Here are some suggestions arranged in the order of convenience and likely success:

  1. Parking at the 34th Street ground level parking facility located between Market and Chestnut streets, across from the parking garage (enter 34th from Market. This lot is just two blocks from the Chemistry Building. This lot may fill up by 9AM.
  2. Lot at 38th and Walnut Street.
  3. Lots near 31st and Market (both sides of the street).
  4. Parking garage on Convention Avenue, about one block from the corner of South Street (South Street takes off from the end of Spruce) and Convention Avenue (near Franklin Field stadium and University City Rail station). It can be reached by heading southon 34th off of Market and turning left at Spruce Street, which shortly angles right to South Street and finally turning right onto Convention Avenue (right by the stadium). While this lot is likely to have openings it is also likely this lot will only admit non-permit holders in after 10 AM.

A suggestion for those arriving from the north via I95 is to take the Cornwells Heights exit, ~15 miles north of Philadelphia, and take the SEPTA Trenton line into 30th Street Station. Also, there is shuttle (Gold loop) that leaves across 30th Street from the 30th Street Station and has a stop at the Chemistry building (34th and Spruce) (not free).

For travelers arriving by AMTRAK, 30th Street station is the best bet. If using SEPTA, there is also the option of using the University City Station on the West Trenton line, a shorter walk to the meeting.

Location of the 23rd Annual NECZA Meeting

The meeting will take place at Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce St, Philadelphia. The hall is a 18 minute walk from 30th Street Station and a 7 minute walk from the SEPTA West Trenton line University City station. There is a diagonal path across campus from Market street that greatly shortens the walk from 30th Street Station. Look for the "Woodland Walk" on your map software.
