Parking at Penn
Parking in the Penn campus area is very tight. Here are some suggestions arranged in the order of convenience and likely success:
1) Try the parking lot at the 34th Street ground level parking
facility located between Market and Chestnut streets across from
the parking garage (enter 34th from Market); the charge is ~$10.
This lot is just two blocks from the Chemistry Building. Typically
the lot fills up about 9AM.
2) Lot at 38th and Walnut Street.
3) Lots near 31st and Market (both sides of the street).
4) Parking garage on Convention Avenue, about one block from the
corner of South Street (South Street takes off from the end of
Spruce) and Convention Avenue (near Franklin Field stadium and
University City Rail station). It can be reached by heading south
on 34th off of Market and turning left at Spruce Street, which
shortly angles right to South Street and finally turning right
onto Convention Avenue (right by the stadium). While this lot
is likely to have openings it is also likely this lot will only
admit non-permit holders in after 10AM.
A suggestion for those arriving from the north via I95 is to take the Cornwells Heights exit, ~15 miles north of Philadelphia, and the train into 30th Street Station. The Chemistry Building is a 15 minute walk from the station. Also, there is shuttle (Gold loop) that leaves on the hour and every 10 minutes across 30th Street from the 30th Street Station and has a stop at the Chemistry building (34th and Spruce) ($1.90). Train departure times from Cornwells Heights are 7:16, 7:24, 7:37, 7:54, 8:22, 8:39, 9:05 and 9:58AM. The parking at Cornwells Heights is free.
Location Of Annual NECZA Meeting
The meeting will take place in the Lynch Seminar Room, Chemistry Department, 231 South 34th street at the corner of 34th and Spruce. The university is 15 minutes walk from 30th Street Station. Upon entering the Chemistry Building, located on the corner of 34th and Spruce Street, follow the signs on the wall (right side) to the Lynch Lecture Hall.
