Special Announcement: 2007 is the 10th anniversary of NECZA. For the past decade, our friend and colleague David Olson has been serving as the local host for NECZA. He turned 70 early this year. We are dedicating the morning session to David, celebrating his contributions to molecular sieve science and technology, and his long service to the zeolite community. A few of David's colleagues from over the years have already agreed to speak. David is honored. Other parties interested in giving a talk or saying a few words about David at the session may contact the organizers.
Registration: Registration details may be found here.
Directions: Detailed driving, walking and parking directions may be found here.
NECZA Meeting Philosophy:
NECZA is an outgrowth of discussions held after sessions at the 1997 Zeolite and Layered Materials Gordon Conference, chaired by Charles Kresge. NECZA seeks to maximize discussion and interactions between the scientists who are attending the meeting. As such, the technical program tends to be a bit flexible with contributions from a variety of backgrounds.
1. Speakers are encouraged to prepare "provocative"
talks and to
rigorously time their talk to keep it to 20 minutes. Ten minutes
of each
time slot has been allotted for discussion.
2. The audience is STRONGLY encouraged to "participate"
(for example by
bringing 1 - 2 slides related to the talks to open up the discussion).
The speakers will submit a short informal abstract as soon as
possible for
distribution.
3. If necessary, the moderators may call upon audience members
with the
expertise to address points the moderator believes are important
and
pertinent.
4. The poster session and graduate student talks have been a staple of NECZA meetings. Speaking from experience, this is a wonderful opportunity for students to 'get their feet wet' in a relatively friendly setting.
